Hows Trancas Market Is Closing: A Great Part of the Malibu Community Will Surely Be Missed
by John Hathorn on August 12, 2011Hows Trancas Market in Malibu is closing its doors for good this month. The Trancas Retail center has been sold, and then resold and the fate of the market has been sealed for a long time.
It’s sad to imagine the loss of the employees that have become like family to all of us living in Western Malibu. These employees, like Lupe, Efrain, Blanca, Stacey and so many others are being pitched out to a grim employment reality.
The thing that made Hows Trancas special was the employees. The market itself was very average but the people there were hardworking and very friendly. It always reminded me of the days when working in supermarkets was a career and you could get to know people at your local market through the years.
The store is selling everything 20% off, they have cut even more employees and the lights are starting to go dark. It has been a wonderful presence in Western Malibu for over 11 years and will be greatly missed.
I wish the best of luck to a group of truly exceptional people.
Anyone of you out there who has experienced the level of service of the Hows Trancas Market? Any comments on its final closure to the public? Please share your thoughts and leave your comments below.
